10 Best Sheets for Night Sweats and Sweaty Sleepers in 2023

Folded Hush Iced Bamboo Cooling Sheets and Pillowcase Set with blocks of ice on each side

What are the best bed sheets for hot sleepers? Sounds like a simple question. But review sites and comparison articles don’t always give you the full picture. Lots of online lists focus on surface-level details like thread count (which actually tells you very little about the quality). You have to dig a little deeper to understand what makes some sheets more cool and comfortable than others.

We’re here to give you an insider’s view of the sleep industry. After countless hours visiting factories and interviewing suppliers, we know what makes a truly excellent bed sheet for night sweats. Our review will focus on the subtle factors that affect the breathability, durability, and softness of each set on our list. We’ll help you understand exactly why these are our favorites when it comes to staying cool at night.

Why Is it So Hard to Find the Best Cooling Sheets?

It's easy for companies to claim that their sheets are "cooling" or "breathable". It can be hard to pin down exactly what they mean, though.

For example, one company might market sheets "made with bamboo". Bamboo viscose is a lightweight, moisture-wicking material - but pay attention to the percentage. There might only be a small amount of bamboo mixed with stuffier synthetic materials.

The fabric isn't the only thing to consider. You also need to look at how the sheets are woven. A looser weave will allow for a lot more heat exchange with the air, which helps with temperature regulation. Some cooling sheets also have special treatments or coatings that make them better at wicking away heat and sweat.

Finally, some sheets marketed toward sweaty sleepers may lack other important qualities. Durability, for instance. Thin, flimsy bedding won't trap much heat, but it also won't hold up well with long-term use. And a cool sheet can still feel bad on your skin or fit poorly on your bed.

This guide will introduce you to some of your top options for cooling bed sheets. We'll give you a clear look at the pros and cons of each so you can pick the ones that suit you best. Let's find the sheets that will carry you to dreamland in comfort.

#1: The Hush Iced 2.0 Cooling Sheets

folded Hush Iced 2.0 Cooling Sheets in Artic Blue color

Yes we may be biased, we're pretty sure we've created the absolute best bamboo sheets on the market. Here’s why:

We started with a ton of research, buying and testing every kind of sheet we could get our hands on. We toured factories and fabric mills around the globe, pestering manufacturers for details on how they wove their sheets. And we used that knowledge to craft sheets that fight night sweats while looking and feeling great. Here's what makes the Hush sheets superior:

High-Quality Bamboo

Our commitment to quality starts right at the source. We seek out only the best suppliers for moisture-wicking bamboo viscose fabric. How obsessive is our attention to detail? We only buy bamboo at certain times of the year, because we've found that summer heat can affect the quality of the fibers. Our material is durable, smooth, and won't pill even after repeated washes.

The bamboo fabric in the Hush Iced sheets is more breathable than cotton while feeling much silkier. With a thread count of 300 thread count but it's as soft as 1500-thread cotton sheets. Our sheets are lightweight and luxurious.

Easy On The Skin, Easy On The Earth

Hush uses 100% sustainably sourced fabric for our bamboo sheets. And we keep them free of harsh chemicals and allergens. Customers with sensitive skin can snooze without fear in the Hush Iced sheets. Our viscose fabric also inhibits bacteria, cutting down on odors and acne breakouts.

Powerful Cooling Finish

The Iced 2.0 finish on our sheets and blankets is our own creation, and it packs a huge amount of cooling power. This innovative material rapidly draws heat from your body and releases it into the air. We went through hundreds of different finishes while making it, tweaking the formula until we were sure it was the best around.

Put your hand on our sheets and you'll feel the result. If you didn't know better, you'd think you just popped them out of the fridge. And they'll keep that deliciously chill feeling all night long. The Hush Iced 2.0 is the coolest bamboo fabric in the world.

Fantastic Fit

Not all sheets fit all beds, even if the listed size is a match. Lots of customers these days are opting for foam or hybrid mattresses. These tend to be much thicker than a traditional bed that sits on top of a box spring. You need a generous fitted sheet to wrap around this type of bed.

Luckily, our deep pocket sheets will handle beefier beds with ease. They also sport elastic harnesses at each corner that fit over the corners of your mattress. This adds some extra anchoring so they won't slide off even if you toss and turn.

We're confident you'll fall in love with the Hush Iced 2.0 Cooling Sheets. They'll keep you cooler and more comfortable than anything else around.

#2: Casper Hyperlite Sheets

bed fitted with Casper Hyperlite Sheets in indigo color

Casper is one of the most popular online mattress companies around. How do they measure up when it comes to making bed sheets? Let’s take a look!

The Hyperlite sheets are made of Tencel, which is a lot like viscose, but made of eucalyptus instead of bamboo. That gets them some sustainability points, since eucalyptus trees can grow on very poor land without using much water.

Tencel is excellent for airflow, making these sheets breathable. Casper also uses a loose, grid-shaped weave that creates natural vents in the fabric. And with a lightweight thread count of 200, the Hyperlite set is a good choice if you don't like heavy sheets. Those who prefer something more substantial should give them a pass.

One minor issue with Casper's sheets is that they lack the wider hem that most flat sheets have at one end. This can look a little odd if you're used to the usual look of a freshly-made bed.

Hot sleepers should also keep in mind that the Casper Hyperlite sheets rely mainly on airflow to help you stay cool. They don't have a heat-dispersing finish like the Hush sheets, meaning they won't feel as chill to the touch.

They also cost more: a Queen-sized set of Casper Hyperlite sheets generally goes for $258 USD (though you can sometimes catch them on sale for less). By comparison, our Hush sheets are only $139 USD. Still, they’re a decent option if you prefer eucalyptus over bamboo.

#3: Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set

bed fitted with Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set in white color

These organic bamboo sheets from Cozy Earth have a great reputation for softness. And they got an extra popularity boost when Oprah herself recommended them. They're also gentle on the skin - like Hush, Cozy Earth makes their sheets with no harsh chemicals.

The bamboo viscose in Cozy Earth sheets does a good job of wicking up moisture. Even sleepers prone to night sweats should stay fairly dry and cool. And with a thread count of 300, they provide a smooth, silky feeling. If you like your sheets extra-soft, you'll want to at least take a look at the Cozy Earth sheets.

Is there any downside? Well, there's the price tag. These are the most expensive sheets on our list. Even with a recent markdown, they're about twice as expensive as our Hush sheets - $369 USD for a Queen-sized set.

More worryingly, quite a few customers complain that the Cozy Earth sheets pill quickly. Some also noted that they're thinner than you'd expect for the price. And, there are a few reports of these sheets tearing after just a few washes.

The good news is that Cozy Earth gives you a 100-night sleep trial. You can see for yourself how this sheet set holds up to a few washes and return them if you're not satisfied.

#4: Parachute Percale Cotton Sheets

Set of Parachute Percale pillowcase and a folded fitted sheet on top in moss green color

If you like the classic feel of cotton, these sheets from Parachute are a good choice for hot sleepers. You have to be a bit choosy about the sourcing and weave of cotton sheets. If the seller doesn’t specify what type they’re using, it’s probably inferior short-staple cotton. And some companies stack multiple layers of material to boost their thread count without actually improving the quality. That makes the sheets even heavier and sweatier.

Luckily, Parachute’s sheets are made of 100% Egyptian cotton, which is more porous and allows for better airflow. The lightweight percale weave enhances that breathability even further.

Parachute's sheets have the signature crisp feel of Egyptian cotton. Many sleepers love this texture, but if you're looking for something super-soft, you may want to pick something else. The Parachute sheets are also Oeko-Tex certified, meaning they're free of toxic substances and allergens.

Cotton sheets are great for those who run a little hot at night. However, they're not as good if you have very heavy night sweats. If you regularly soak through your bedding, you're probably better off with moisture-wicking sheets made of Tencel or bamboo.

We have one other minor gripe with the Parachute Percale sheets. Their default set only includes a fitted sheet and two pillowcases. Adding a flat sheet costs you an extra $60-90 USD, depending on the size. This seems like a slightly sneaky way to make the base price look lower. A complete set of these sheets is almost as expensive as the Cozy Earth.

#5: Layla Bamboo Sheets

Bed with two pillows in white Layla Bamboo pillowcase and sheets set

Here's another option for those who like bamboo cooling sheets (and Eric Clapton). Layla's sheets are quite supple and soft, and many customers noted that they feel cool against the skin. They let a good amount of air pass through, which will help keep body heat from building up. However, some customers noted that the slick texture can make the bedding slip free of the mattress.

Unlike the Hush sheets, it's not clear whether the materials are organic. If sustainability is a high priority or you're concerned they might contain harsh chemicals, the Layla sheets may not be for you. And, as with the Cozy Earth sheets, there were some complaints that they tear a bit too easily.

On the plus side, the Layla Bamboo Sheets have undeniable style. Each flat sheet and pillow features a bold stripe of contrasting color at the hem - black on the white sheets and white on the gray ones. Combined with their silky sheen, it gives them a very distinctive look.

#6: Brooklinen Classic Core Sheet Set

Folded set of Brooklinen's Classic Core Sheet Set in Graphite color and Steel Oxford Stripe pattern

Brooklinen's cotton sheets are made with a crisscrossing percale weave, much like the Parachute set we discussed earlier. They don't use Egyptian cotton, which would make them a little higher-end and more porous. On the other hand, the thread count is slightly lower than Parachute's, making it even lighter. They'll do a decent job keeping you cool, though they may not absorb enough moisture to handle major night sweats.

A nice feature of Brooklinen's fitted sheets is that they include labels for the short and long ends. It's a small touch, but you'll appreciate it if you've ever been frustrated trying to match your sheet to your bed. The pillowcases also sport "envelope closures" with a little extra fabric rectangle to keep the pillow in place.

These are very crisp sheets, even for a percale cotton set. This can produce some odd crackling sounds as you shift around. Some people also found that these sheets were a little too stiff right out of the box. But they will loosen up somewhat after one or two wash cycles.

#7: Nest Bedding Luxury Eucalyptus Sheet Set

Nest Bedding's Luxury Eucalyptus Sheet Set in earthy Biscotti color

These Tencel sheets from Nest Bedding are a good option for those who want serious moisture-wicking power. Eco-conscious shoppers who like the lower footprint of eucalyptus fabric will like them too. They offer a pleasant, cool sensation when you first slide into bed. But some customers found that they didn't keep this frosty feel through the night the way our Hush sheets do.

Nest offers a nice range of earthy color options for the Luxury Eucalyptus Sheet Set. They have a no-nonsense style that will appeal to those with a minimalist streak.

The fit is less impressive. Nest's fitted sheet is only about 15 inches deep, not enough to stretch over many of the thicker plush mattresses on the market. And many customers mentioned that the silky surface bunches easily and fails to hug the corners.

#8: Endy Organic Cotton Sheets

Side shot of bed with Endy Organic Cotton Sheet in Glacier Blue color with two pillows stacked

Like Casper, Endy is a mattress company branching out into bedding. Their sheets are made entirely of certified organic cotton, with a thin but durable weave. They offer the mix of breathability and softness that has given cotton sheets such long-lasting popularity.

The reason they’re not higher on the list is that Endy doesn’t specify what variety of cotton goes into their sheets. As we noted earlier, this usually means it has short fibers which clump up more and don’t last as long. The Endy sheets have a thin profile, which helps them stay somewhat cool. But they won’t release as much body heat as sheets made with a better grade of cotton.

Endy’s return window is a little narrower than most. Bedding companies typically offer you 100 nights to test out their products, while Endy only gives you 60.

#9: Silk & Snow Flax Linen Bed Sheets

Bed with Silk & Snow Flax Linen Bed Sheets in Copper color

Those who have tried it know that there's no substitute for the distinctive feel of linen. It's long been a favorite for summer clothes because of its ability to soak up sweat. Silk & Snow's linen sheets are sustainably sourced from French and Belgian producers, and their manufacturing process aims to minimize environmental impact.

The feel of these sheets is pretty typical for linen. They're a bit coarser than silk or bamboo, but that homespun feel will appeal to some. We're guessing you already know if you're in the target market for these sheets.

It's worth noting that although linen sheets breathe well, they won't give you the same cool-to-the-touch experience as the Hush Iced. They also tend to feel heavier than cotton, viscose, or lyocell, which can feel uncomfortable for some hot sleepers. But for hardcore linen lovers, the Silk & Snow sheet set is worth a look.

#10: LuxClub 6-Piece Sheet Set

Folded LuxClub 6-Piece Sheet Set in red color and a row of folded sets in different colors below

Most cooling sheets are fairly expensive compared to the average set of bedding. But LuxClub (despite the name) is offering theirs at an extremely wallet-friendly price. They've also managed to sustain a 4.5-star score on Amazon while racking up more than 160,000 ratings. That's enough to make us sit up and take notice.

Many of those users praise the soft, light feel of these sheets, as well as their wrinkle resistance. LuxClub also provides a huge range of color choices, some of which are very rich and vivid.

Naturally, there are some tradeoffs involved when you buy budget cooling sheets. Though LuxClub calls these "bamboo sheets", they're actually 60% microfiber just like Cosy House sheets. They won't have the same sheer, smooth feel. They're also not as durable.

Microfiber is also much denser than bamboo viscose, and it will trap a lot more body heat. It's pretty good at soaking up moisture, though. If you tend to feel cold in bed but still get night sweats (yes, it can happen), you may like sheets with a lot of microfiber.

Other Need-To-Know Info On Sheets for Night Sweats

We want to make sure you have all the information you need to stay cool while you sleep. After all, keeping heat and sweat under control at night isn’t just about comfort. It’s also important for your sleep hygiene. Here’s some background info that you may find helpful if you’re concerned about night sweats.

What Causes Night Sweats?

The most common reason for sweating at night is poor temperature regulation. A good set of cooling sheets can often help, along with a few other heat hacks. But what if you’re still waking up sweaty even though your room is cool?

Sweating at night can sometimes get worse if you're regularly using alcohol or other drugs. Some medications can have a similar effect, including antidepressants and opioid painkillers. On the flipside, sweating can be a symptom of infections that cause fevers.

Anxiety is a common cause of sweating in your sleep. It also makes it tough to get to sleep in the first place! If you need suggestions on how to keep nighttime anxiety under control, we've compiled a few here.

Some chronic conditions may also cause night sweats. Obstructive sleep apnea is one common example. Others include hormone imbalances, acid reflux, and even some kinds of cancer. Please don't self-diagnose based on a bedsheet review article, though - see your doctor if your night sweats have you worried.

Best Materials For Cooling Sheets

We've looked at a few different types of bedding material in this review. To avoid any confusion, here's a quick overview of the top fabrics for cooling and sweat reduction.

middle of bamboo tree forest on a sunny day

Bamboo

At Hush, we're often asked, "are bamboo sheets cooling?" The short answer is yes! Bamboo viscose sheets are made from pulped bamboo fibers. This is one of the best materials for sleepers with night sweats. It's porous, so hot air can escape instead of getting trapped in the sheets. Bamboo fibers also help wick up your sweat so that it evaporates quickly. And viscose feels naturally cool to the touch.

Lyocell

Lyocell is often sold under the trade name Tencel, but both refer to a fabric derived from eucalyptus wood pulp. It feels a lot like bamboo viscose, and it performs about the same when it comes to moisture-wicking and breathability. Some consider eucalyptus more sustainable than bamboo, which may be why lyocell tends to be more expensive.

Cotton

You can make very sturdy, breathable sheets out of cotton, though it can't soak up as much moisture as bamboo or lyocell. Its coolness depends a lot on the weave and the type of cotton. "Long-staple" varieties like Prima or Egyptian cotton have longer fibers, resulting in smoother weaves that permit more airflow. The coolest cotton sheets use long-staple cotton in a percale weave.

Linen

Linen comes from the flax plant, and it has a distinctive homespun feel. It's popular in hot places because it can absorb a lot of sweat and dry out quickly. A linen sheet can take up slightly more moisture than lyocell or bamboo. The downside is that it feels even hotter than cotton. It's good for fighting sweat, but not as good at cooling.

Synthetics

Synthetic fabrics like microfiber and polyester perform poorly when it comes to cooling. They may soak up a decent amount of moisture, but we wouldn't recommend them if you're trying to stay cool.

The Hush Iced 2.0 Cooling Fabric

Of course, we think our sheets have the absolute best cooling material your money can buy. Our unique finish adds an extra touch of coolness to the natural breathability of bamboo. It also makes our sheets incredibly smooth and soft. Grab a set of Hush Iced 2.0 sheets and get ready to snooze in sweat-free comfort.
