Casper Mattress

Casper mattresses come in a variety of types, as you’ll have noticed from searching “Casper Mattress Canada.” They offer foam mattresses as well as hybrid mattresses, in addition to a wide line of other sleep products: pillows, bedding, bed frames, etc.

But you may also notice from browsing their mattresses that they are a bit expensive. The most affordable option is nearly $1,500 (for a queen size mattress). Here, we’re going to give you a thorough review of Casper mattresses, as well as an alternative — our very own Hush mattress.

The Casper Alternative: How Two Mattresses Compare

Casper offers a decent range of high-quality mattresses of varying levels of affordability. But how do these mattresses compare to other Canadian box mattresses?

At Hush, we set out to make high-end mattresses for a fraction of the price you typically pay. And we wanted to make a mattress that would be suitable for all body types and sizes, able to accommodate any sleeping position. Let’s take a look at how the Casper and Hush mattresses compare in a few important categories.

A happy couple lying on their stomach on a Hush mattress while looking at each other.

Quality

Across the board, we use high-quality materials, and generally, so does Casper. We make our Hush mattress with food-grade soy byproducts and CertiPUR® foam, and Casper also uses CertiPUR® foam as well as recycled materials to make their mattresses.

The high quality of our mattresses means they’re designed to last. Both our Hush mattress as well as the Casper mattresses should last upwards of 10 years.

Affordability

If you’re looking for the most affordable high-quality mattress, the clear winner is Hush. A queen mattress costs $1,200, which is less expensive than the most affordable queen from Casper. But our Hush mattress is a hybrid mattress, unlike the comparably-priced Casper Original. Ours also features phase change material, something only the most expensive Casper mattress includes.

Additionally, our Hush mattress uses individually-wrapped coils instead of standard springs. The coils move independently of each other, meaning you won’t feel the movement of your partner or dog – and you won’t disturb them when you switch positions. None of the Casper mattresses offer individually-wrapped coils, so the Hush mattress is more motion-isolating.

Our Hush mattress also features zoned support in the coil layer, so the coils in the middle of the bed provide more support while the coils at your head and feet are lighter. All the Casper mattresses have a foam layer with three zones of support, but we believe our Hush mattress has even better zoned support with its motion-isolating, individually-wrapped coils.

So, not only is the Hush mattress more affordable than any of the Casper mattresses, but it has special features that only the most expensive Casper mattress has, and some unique features that none of the Casper mattresses have. It’s clear you won’t sacrifice quality by choosing our more affordable Hush mattress.

Variety

Casper offers the most options to choose from, with five different mattresses currently listed on its website. But the differences between these options are quality and price, meaning your choice will most likely be determined by your budget – and not necessarily by your individual preferences.

For instance, if you prefer a softer foam mattress, or if you prefer a hybrid mattress with fewer layers of foam, you don’t have either of those options if you go with Casper. Their foam mattress is very firm, and their hybrid mattresses add more layers of foam as you go up in price. It’s really more like variations on one mattress than five different mattresses.

At Hush, we make only one mattress, but we designed this mattress to suit almost everyone. You won’t have to decide how much extra you’re willing to pay for special features, because all the special features included with the Casper mattresses (and more) are included in our Hush mattress for a fraction of the price.

In fact, every Hush mattress is made fresh, just for you. That means you can be sure you’re getting a new mattress, and not something that sat in a warehouse for months or years.

Best. Sleep. Ever.

  • Fall asleep faster and stay cool all night
  • Zero motion felt for uninterrupted sleep
  • No more back pain with triple-zoned support
  • Premium hybrid mattress without breaking the bank

Every night is a good night sleep.

Casper’s Canadian Mattresses

Casper currently offers five different high-quality mattresses at a wide range of prices. You can expect to pay anywhere from about $1,500 to $4,500 for a standard queen, depending on how fancy you’d like your mattress to be – and how much you’re willing to pay. The most expensive king size mattress is over $5,000.

Note that seasonal sales and discount codes may sometimes make these mattresses less expensive. You can also get free shipping on Casper mattresses.

The Casper Original

The most affordable of the Casper mattresses, the Casper Original is the only Casper mattress made entirely of foam. But unlike other brands, the Casper provides firmer foam in the middle of the mattress to give your torso a little lift and keep the middle from sagging. In other words, this isn’t one of those sinking mattresses you’ll get stuck in.

The Casper Original provides more advanced support and cooling tech than most other foam mattresses, with three layers of different types of foam. The top layer uses the company’s Airscape tech with perforated foam that circulates air, making it breathable to keep you cool. It also conforms to your body shape, providing more relief for the joints that need it most.

The middle layer has memory foam divided into three ergonomic zones, providing additional support in the middle of the mattress where your body needs it most. The base layer is made of a more durable foam, providing additional support that is sometimes missing from pure memory foam mattresses, including edge support.

If you’re looking for a high-quality foam mattress, the Casper Original is one of the best options you’ll find. Over 20,000 mattress reviews have rated this mattress an average of 4.5 out of 5, and many customers claim it’s the best mattress they’ve ever used.

The Casper Original Hybrid

For a little more support (and a little more money), the Casper Original Hybrid is the least expensive of the Casper hybrid mattresses. It contains all the same elements of the Original Casper: three layers of foam, with cooling tech in the top layer and zoned support in the middle layer.

What’s different about this mattress is the spring layer, adding a little more airflow and support to the mattress. Note that the springs are all connected, meaning the whole mattress will respond to movement anywhere on the bed. Underneath the spring layer is the base layer that uses firmer foam.

Because of the connected springs, this may not be the best choice for isolating motion, but it is a more supportive mattress than the original.

The Casper Nova Hybrid

The Casper Nova Hybrid mattress is a step above the others we’ve looked at so far – which you’d expect it to be, at around $2,500 (for a queen). It’s a hybrid mattress, but unlike the original hybrid, this mattress has a more advanced cooling technology as well as another layer of zoned support.

The top layer of foam uses Airscape 2, which allows heat to leave your body and may feel softer than the top layer of the original (and the original hybrid). The company calls it a “plush, velvety soft feel.” Underneath that is a layer of foam with three zones of support, providing the most support in the middle of the mattress.

The third layer of this mattress sets it apart from the original hybrid: It’s a layer of foam with seven zones of support, providing more support around your waist and less support around your shoulders, letting your shoulders sink into the mattress. The seven zones help to reinforce the zoned support of the second layer.

The fourth layer of this mattress contains springs similar to those of the original hybrid, and underneath that is the firm base layer. Altogether, this mattress provides more support, more cooling, and more fluffiness than the original hybrid.

The Casper Wave Hybrid

At nearly $4,000 for a queen mattress, the Casper Wave Hybrid has more advanced tech and zoned support than the mattresses we’ve looked at so far, with Airscape 3 technology. The top layer uses a thin coating of cooling gel on top of the perforated foam. The gel is cool to the touch, adding a refreshing feel to this mattress.

Underneath the top layer is a second layer of Airscape foam, with thousands of perforations drilled in specific places designed to keep you from overheating. The top two layers of Airscape foam plus the cooling gel make this the most cooling mattress so far.

Layer 3 is the memory foam with three zones of support, providing more support in the middle. Under that is a fourth layer with zoned gel pads continuously distributed to offer the most support and relief of all the mattresses.

Finally, layer 5 contains the resilient springs, and underneath that is the firm base. The company claims this is their best mattress for back pain, offering cooling and targeted support with its many unique layers.

The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow

A Casper Wave Snow mattress in a dark blue-green bedroom with bedside tables and hanging lights on both sides.

The Wave Hybrid Snow is the most advanced mattress Casper has to offer. For an additional $500, it has two features the Casper Wave Hybrid doesn’t have that help make it even more cooling than the other mattresses.

The top foam layer includes phase change material, an advanced cooling technology designed to absorb your body heat and keep you at a consistent, cool temperature throughout the entire night as well as provide pressure relief. The next layer includes the Airscape foam with the thin coating of cooling gel, and the third layer is more Airscape foam.

But the third layer has a unique addition that makes this mattress even more cooling: six HeatDelete Bands, directing heat away from your body like “thermal highways.” In other words, this mattress uses the most advanced technology to trap heat and keep it away from your body.

The fourth layer contains the memory foam with three zones of support, and under that is the layer of gel pods from the regular Wave Hybrid mattress. Finally, there’s the base layer of resilient springs and firm support.

If you want the most cooling, supportive mattress Casper makes, and you have the money to spend on it, this is the mattress for you.
